Lisa is Polaris’s Communications Officer, primarily supporting the organization’s strategic initiatives related to Mexico. In her role, she is responsible for developing traditional and digital media outreach strategies and bilingual materials to raise awareness of human trafficking and the National Human Trafficking Hotline among Latino populations in the U.S. Additionally, she supports Polaris’s Mexican partner organization, Consejo Ciudadano, with hotline promotion and public education of human trafficking in Mexico. Lisa also contributes to Polaris’s overall efforts to raise the profile of the organization and the National Hotline among targeted populations across North America.

Lisa brings a strong background in bilingual (English/Spanish) communications and program reporting for international development and social justice nonprofits, as well as several years of experience as a Spanish-English translator and editor. Before joining Polaris, Lisa was the Director of Communications at The Resource Foundation, a New York City-based organization that assists corporate and foundation donors with their philanthropic strategies in Latin America. Fluent in Spanish, Lisa earned a master’s degree in International Development and Nonprofit Management from the Universidad de Granada in Spain, where she worked and studied for six years. She has a B.S. in Communications with majors in journalism and Spanish from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.
